We are the Champions!
UNH CJ Club Sweeps Competition

UNH’s Student Chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association brought home more than 20 trophies and more than 10 medals at the Region 4 competition last weekend in Virginia. The Club also received the Jim Hooker spirit award, considered the most prestigious award at the competition, and the Sweepstakes Award given to the chapter that sweeps the region in academic competition. The club thanks Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bartels for funding the trip as well as Dr. Fadia Narchet and Daniel Maxwell for their work on behalf of the students. Honor Our Veterans
The University community is invited to the Maxcy Quad for a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. today Tuesday, Nov. 11, paying tribute to veterans from the University community. The event features the raising of the American flag, the ceremonial placing of the wreath on the quad to honor veterans, a posting of the colors, a gun salute and taps. More than 120 UNH students – both Democrats and Republicans - gathered for a post-election party Tuesday, Nov. 4 in Bartels Hall, the campus center. While TV stations progressively reported the results, students played games and helped themselves to food. When the news of Barack Obama’s victory hit the airwaves, the room erupted. "After they called Ohio for Obama, we all went crazy," said College Democrats president Zack Rosen. Click here for more photos.

Northeast-10 Conference Championships

With a 23-3 overall record and a 12-0 NE-10 record, the UNH Women’s Volleyball team secured a spot in the Northeast-10 conference championships. The opening rounds of the championships begin Friday, Nov. 14 at Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y.



Be Mad at Midnight!
Thursday at the Charger Gym

Midnight Madness – marking the opening this week of the Charger basketball season - explodes at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Nov. 13 outside the Charger Gymnasium. A bonfire and pep rally will celebrate all fall sports, then inside, music, performances by the Charger cheerleaders, University bands and step teams, a ChargerREC intramural 3-point shooting competition, a student chance to win $5,000, and the introduction of the men’s and women’s basketball teams promises an eventful evening. At 11:15 p.m., a Midnight Breakfast will be served to those who attended – and stayed at- Midnight Madness. Those who are among the first to enter the gym at 9 p.m. are eligible to receive a Midnight Madness T-shirt. This weekend kicks off the season for both UNH Men’s and Women's Basketball teams. The women will start their season playing Holy Family University at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15 at home; the men are playing Goldey-Beacom College at 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15 at home.

Student Group Lends Community
A Helping Hand with Interview Skills

As a service to the community, the University chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and the New Haven County Bar Association presented a seminar on interviewing skills to about four dozen young people from New Haven high schools and colleges this past Friday. Bar association members and UNH students and faculty then conducted mock interviews with each student, testing skills and offering feedback. To Their Living Relatives

UNH forensic scientist Dr. Heather Coyle and Ozge Uncu, a visiting student from Cyprus, match the DNA remains from those killed in the inter-communal fighting in Cyprus from 1963 to1974, with the DNA of surviving relatives. Uncu is attending training at the Henry Lee Institute on a Fulbright Foreign Student scholarship.

UNH is taking part in Healthy Relationships Week Monday, Nov. 17 through Friday, Nov. 21. To help support the effort, create a poster that illustrates healthy intimacy and submit it by Friday, Nov. 21 to the Office of Residential Life in Bixler Hall. Crime Scene Investigation

Learn what it takes to investigate a crime scene. UNH presents a Crime Scene Investigation course from the “Dr. Lee and Friends” series from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Dec. 29 in Dodds Theatre. The course is open to students and the public, and signups are being accepted now. Famed forensic scientist Dr. Henry C. Lee will discuss what it takes to become a crime scene investigator, what happens at a crime scene and much more. Price is $50 for students with ID and $100 for adults.
