CT Surgeon General, Yale Professor Discuss MRSA, Scabies Nov. 1
In response to student questions regarding MRSA and scabies, Dr. Richard Young. a New Haven neurologist, and Yale University Professor Dr. Kalman Watsky, a dermatologist, will be on campus at noon Thursday, Nov. 1 in Dodds Theatre for an information session and discussion. President Kaplan sent out a bulletin to the campus community this past week advising that MRSA, a potentially deadly drug-resistant strain of staph bacteria, has been making its way through schools, gyms and day-care centers. In addition to the MRSA issue, scabies, an infestation of the skin that results in a rash and severe itching, has also been detected among several UNH students. Scabies is contracted by prolonged contact with an infested individual. Click here to read President Kaplan’s advice.
