Noted Authority on Healthy Eating Shares His Smarts with UNH
Yale professor Dr. David Katz, author of “The Way to Eat,” enthralled students this past Tuesday with a speech that increased their awareness of what they were putting in their mouths. “Being healthy is fun,” he told about 20 students and several faculty and staff members attending the lecture at Bethel Hall. His advice:
=
Don’t trust the front of the box. It’s an ad.
=
Always read the nutritional information and the ingredients on the box.
=
Long ingredient lists are usually a bad sign.
=
Go with whole grains, two grams of fiber or more per 100 calories.
=
Trans fats are technically poisons. Partially hydrogenated oil is a trans fat. Click here to get more information on healthy eating from Dr. Katz.
