New Fraternity Seeks Advisor
(Continued from UNH Today home page.)

To Respected Faculty & Staff;

My name is Michael Kaplan and I am the President/Consul of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and speak on behalf of all the men in our Fraternity when I say we are all excited to embark on this journey.

We are currently searching for a faculty or staff advisor who could help assist us with university policies and procedures. The advisor can help guide us through University of New Haven as well as help guide our 25 outstanding gentlemen through the colonization period and onward to becoming a fully operational chapter of Sigma Chi here at the University of New Haven.

We began in November of 2007, looking for more than what this campus had to offer and hoping to bring our campus something a little different we went on a search of national and international fraternities to bring to our campus. Our search started and ended with Sigma Chi.

Sigma Chi is an international fraternity with over 200 chapters world wide, striving to bring leadership to each campus and community it comes into contact with. Through our headquarters we are being guided through the current process by loving and caring alumni of the Sigma Chi Fraternity from respected universities such as the University of Connecticut and Yale University, they devote countless hours to our colony as a liaison with alumni and headquarters. Sigma Chi is a leadership based fraternity, focused on growing leaders out of it’s men. Sigma Chi follows the Jordan Standard which state that no man shall be admitted to membership who is not believed to be a man of good character, a student of fair ability, with ambitious purposes, a congenial disposition, having a high sense of honor and a deep sense of responsibility. Our twenty-five men take this standard seriously and strive to live by these standards each day, remembering that each day our character is always in action.

The Sigma Chi fraternity spends its time working with the Huntsman Cancer Institute as well as the Children’s Miracle Network, these are both great philanthropic efforts that we all believe strongly in, We are also working towards bringing the American Cancer Society’s Relay for life to our Campus next October, as well as locally working with the Boys & Girls Club of New Haven and the West Haven Community House. We take work seriously, as we do our service to the community around us.

We are asking the faculty and staff of UNH to help us out and join us in bringing and exemplary Greek organization to our campus that we can all be proud of. If you are interested in helping out as our Advisor please contact me either by phone or email listed below. Thank you in advance, we really need your help!

Scholastically Yours,
