UNH Women’s Basketball Victorious Against Bridgeport
The University of New Haven women's basketball team played in front of a national audience on live television Saturday, defeating the University of Bridgeport 62-41 to remain unbeaten in the East Coast Conference. The game was broadcast live throughout the country on CSTV, and the Chargers and UNH were also showcased to an international audience via the NCAA's live Internet streaming. The game was part of UNH's community engagement efforts and benefited retired local firefighter Joseph Harvey, Jr., who lost part of his leg to diabetes this fall. A packed house of more than 800 fans came out to cheer on UNH and give the Chargers a home court advantage, at the same time helping to collect more than $500 for the stricken firefighter. If you missed the game, it will be replayed today, Monday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. on NESN. For a full recap, visit: http://www.newhaven.edu/athletics/news/19066/
