Construction on UNH’s Unique Blue and Yellow Turf Field To be Completed by Mid-Sept.
The new Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium on North Campus will sport a state-of-the-art synthetic turf field, Sprinturf by mid-September thanks to the generosity of UNH alumnus Ralph F. DellaCamera, Jr. ’75 B.S., managing member and CIO of DellaCamera Capital Management LLC in Manhattan and a member of the University’s Board of Governors. The field will also be one of only two blue synthetic turf fields in existence. The football field also will be used to host NCAA and Northeast-10 Conference championship games in football, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse.

The lecture “Types, Frequency, and Effectiveness of Responses to Unwanted Pursuit and Stalking” will be presented by Dr. Leila B. Dutton, associate professor of Criminal Justice at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16 in the upper level of the Marvin K. Peterson Library. Colloquium Attracts International Attention, Audience
Dozens of law enforcement and national security officials from throughout the globe attended the 10th Annual International Colloquium on Intelligence, hosted by the University of New Haven’s National Security Graduate Program, including Associate Executive Assistant Director Philip Mudd of the FBI, pictured left, who spoke to colloquium participants Thursday, Aug. 7.
An ESPN Trailblazer Is Fall Bartels Fellow
ESPN Senior Vice President/Communications Counsel and Corporate Outreach Rosa Gatti will speak on the topic, “Your Personal Brand” as part of the fall Bartels Lecture Series Thursday, Oct. 2 at Dodds Theatre. Gatti made her mark as the first female sports information director at a major NCAA college, in this case her alma mater, Villanova, and moved on to Brown University before landing at ESPN.
This Summer’s SOAR A Huge Success
The Summer Orientation, Advising and Registration program drew more than 1,000 students and almost 1,000 parents to the campus, the largest number to ever participate in the six years SOAR has been offered. The University Police Department is offering physical defense training this fall for both women and men. Classes are taken for one credit, although a free Rape Aggression Defense course for women will also be offered from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for four Sundays, Sept. 21, Sept. 28, Oct. 5 and Oct. 12. Butch Hollister of Hollister’s Farm in Granby drives all the way to West Haven from the northern tip of the state each Thursday to sell fresh fruits and vegetables at the Farmers’ Market on the Green in downtown West Haven. Participants are all state-certified farmers; produce is picked daily. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays until Halloween. “Prices are generally below those of the grocery store, and the produce is much fresher,” Hollister says. |
