Ellis C. Maxcy Heritage Society
The Ellis C. Maxcy Heritage Society is an honorary association of individuals who have made planned gifts to the University. Honored for his outstanding contributions to the University, Dr. Maxcy led New Haven College from 1932 to 1937 and served on the University's Board of Governors from 1937 to 1985. The University established the giving society to honor Dr. Maxcy’s foresight and steady counsel spanning 53 years of service to the University.
By becoming a member of the Ellis C. Maxcy Heritage Society, you are helping to provide the foundation for a better future for our students. You open the doors of opportunity to promising students and provide an enduring legacy with a gift that keeps on giving.
How to Become a Society Member
• Name the University as a beneficiary in your will, trust or life insurance policy; or
• Establish a life income arrangement, such as a charitable remainder trust or gift annuity. These instruments provide you with the opportunity to receive an income stream for life.
Gift Opportunities
Many planned giving instruments allow you to accomplish financial planning goals you may not have thought possible. Your legacy gift to the University of New Haven could:
• Increase your lifetime income
• Provide for family members
• Unlock appreciated assets to produce greater annual income without being penalized by capital gains
• Eliminate or reduce your tax burden
• Make a substantial gift to a meaningful cause
We have a wide range of information related to planning strategies and would be happy to assist you in reviewing various options. Please notify us if UNH is already included in your long-range plans so that you can be recognized as a member of the Society (see contact information below).
Privileges of Membership
Once you become a member of the Ellis C. Maxcy Heritage Society, you will enjoy the following benefits:
