Make a Planned Gift
|
Think creatively when planning to make a gift. Did you know you can make a significant gift to UNH which will help secure the University’s future and your own? Many planned gifts, such as a simple bequest in your will, cost nothing now. You even can make a gift to UNH which will provide income to you or a loved one. These gifts can be made with many types of assets, from the most common (cash and securities) to the more unusual (such as property, collectibles or retirement assets).

You can use planned gifts to help you make a substantial gift more affordable, and at the same time preserve or even enhance your financial well-being. Popular gift plans include: • A bequest from your will. If you are making a new will, you can simply include the University of New Haven among the beneficiaries of your estate. If you already have a will, you can make UNH a beneficiary of your estate through a codicil. Your bequest language can be as simple as the following:
• Gifts that provide income for life, including charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts. • Naming UNH as the remainder beneficiary of your IRA or other retirement plan. We can work with you, your family, and your financial advisers to help you create a plan that meets both your financial and philanthropic goals. Please contact Bob Congdon, director of development, at 203.479.4295 or rcongdon@newhaven.edu for more information about establishing a planned gift or to notify us of an existing arrangement. The Ellis C. Maxcy Heritage Society celebrates individual and family donors who have looked ahead in their lives and made planned gifts to benefit our students and the University in perpetuity. If you have already included UNH in your will or estate plans, please let us know so we can welcome you into this distinguished community. |
