What Is Mentoring? | ||
Research has proven that students who are connected to and feel comfortable at an institution of higher learning are more likely to graduate from that institution. On the contrary, students who must rely on their own support networks are more likely to transfer or drop-out. Mentoring promotes the philosophy that the personal connection between a mentor and mentee will support student self-advocacy leading a determined student to graduate from his/her university. The positive connections that students make at the college foster the creation of a safe and comfortable learning environment where academic exploration and experimentation are encouraged.
| M2 | ||
M2 is a three month-long program and consists of UNH students and volunteer UNH Alumni. This influential collaboration will allow alumni to improve college life for students, while sharing past memories as a UNH undergraduate and current knowledge as a career professional. Students will be able to alleviate academic and personal challenges they now face and avoid problematic issues in the future with positive interaction from their new comrade. Appointed students can comfortably participate knowing all of the information exchanged will be kept confidential. M2 will also effectively pair mentees and mentors using a thorough questionnaire which investigates interests for both parties.
