Meet the Orientation Staff

The Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. -4:30 p.m. during the academic year, excluding federal holidays.

Our summer hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Fridays 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Greg Overend

Executive Director for Student Engagement, Leadership, and Orientation

Greg Overend has been the Director for the Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation since August of 2003 when he joined the University of New Haven community. He graduated in 1993 from Eastern Connecticut State University with a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Economics and in 1996 graduated from Rider University with his Masters in Human Services Administration.  During the academic year, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation.  Greg is in charge of all aspects of orientation programming.

Assistant Director for Greek Life and Leadership

The Assistant Director for Greek Life and Programming is responsible for overseeing the University of New Haven’s Greek Life community and advising the Student Committee of Programming Events. In addition, the Assistant Director assists in the implementation of the SOAR Program.

Colleen joined the Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation in the Spring of 2014 as the Coordinator of Campus Programs.  Colleen is an alumnae of the University of New Haven where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science and Chemistry in 2011.  She completed her Master of Science degree in 2014 in Counseling with a specialization in Student Development and Higher Education from Central Connecticut State University.

Andrew Mayer

Assistant Director of Leadership Development

The Assistant Director for Leadership Development is responsible for overseeing the University of New Haven's Take Charge leadership development program and Recognized Student Organization trainings. This includes the coordination of the First Year Leadership Experience (FLEx) program, Leadership, Education, Growth and Opportunities for Success (LEGOS) academic course, Leadership Day, as well as other leadership workshops and speaker series. In addition, the Assistant Director assists in the implementation of the SOAR program.

Andrew joined the Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation in the Summer of 2011 as the Office Coordinator. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Event Management from Lasell College in 2010 and his Master of Education degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from the University of Vermont in 2016. He transitioned to the Assistant Director for Leadership Development position in January 2017.

Assistant Director for Student Events

The Assistant Director for Student Events is responsible for planning, implementing and assessing most aspect of event programming including educational programming and campus wide programming. The Assistant Director for Student Events also works with Recognized Student Organizations to plan and grow the Twisted Thursday programming calendar.

Erica joined the Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation in March of 2017. Erica is an alumnae of the University of Connecticut where she received her Bachelor of Art degree in Psychology in 2012. She completed her Master of Science degree in 2015 in Counseling with a specialization in Student Development and Higher Education from Central Connecticut State University.

Office Coordinator, CSELO

The Office Coordinator serves as main point of contact for the Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation. This includes supervising the Bergami Game Room Staff, supporting Recognized Student Organizations with contracting and financial processes, coordinating the Recognized Student Organization recognition process, and coordinating setup logistics and registrations for events such as SOAR, Family Day, Student Award Ceremony, Commencement Ball, and Senior BBQ. 

Erin joined the Center for Student Engagement, Leadership and Orientation in March of 2017 as the Office Coordinator. She graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Music with a concentration in Classical Clarinet Performance in 2013, and completed her Master of Science degree in 2016 in Counseling with a specialization in Student Development and Higher Education from Central Connecticut State University.
