Club Sports are athletic based student organizations, which compete with other universities and colleges. Each club is a University of New Haven Recognized Student Organization and a member of a regional/national governing league/association. Participation and individual dues vary by club.

Intramural Sports are organized sports leagues, one-day tournaments, special events, and online programs, which provide participants the opportunity to compete and socialize within the university community. More than 50 team and individual sport programs are offered throughout the academic year. Access to all Intramural Sports are included in each facility membership.
GroupX Classes are drop-in fitness classes designed for participants of all levels. A diverse array of classes is offered each month including spinning, meditation, yoga, cardio/strength, core, Zumba, and high-intensity based formats. More than 25 classes are offered each week during the academic year. Access to all GroupX classes are included in each facility membership.
Adventure recreation features off-campus trips to various location within the local region. Hiking trips allow participants to enjoy the scenic trails of southern New England. Climbing trips offer participants access to local climbing facilities. Adventure recreation trips are fee-based programs, which vary by trip.
Personal training offers participants an opportunity for 1-on-1 or small group fitness training. Personal trainers work with participants to develop an individualized program to meet their personal fitness goals. Personal Training is a fee-based program with several packages and rates available.
Massage therapy offers participants an opportunity for relaxation and stress relief. Massage therapists will work participants to develop individualized sessions focusing on their stress-reduction needs. Massage therapy is a fee-based program with several packages and rates available.
Special Events & Programs
Throughout the year, ChargerREC offers and hosts various events and programs including CPR/AED/first aid classes, concerts, fitness & wellness events, etc.
TeamREC (Student Employment)
Student employees are empowered to manage the programs of ChargerREC and the operations of the Beckerman Recreation Center. ChargerREC is the largest student employer on-campus, employing over 125 students each year.
Competency Learning Experience
The Competency Learning Experience Initiative is an innovative, pedagogically based initiative that engages and develops students in six targeted competencies (Communication, Leadership, Teamwork, Resilience, Critical Thinking, and Global & Cultural Awareness). Through a structured set of experiences, student employees build and reflect on the knowledge, skills, and abilities that lead to personal and professional success.
David A. Beckerman Recreation Center
The Beckerman Recreation Center is a 56,600-square-foot student recreation center that features two multi-purpose group fitness studios; weight room & fitness center; two racquetball courts; two hardwood activity courts (for basketball, volleyball, and badminton); a multi-activity court (for basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, floor/roller hockey & various other activities); jogging track; juice bar; locker rooms (men’s, women’s & individual use) and lounge areas. The facility is regularly used by 75 percent of full-time undergraduate student body.
During the academic year, the Beckerman Recreation Center membership fee for all current full-time and part-time University of New Haven students is included in their tuition package.
University of New Haven faculty, staff, alumni, and family members are eligible to purchase memberships.
In addition to the Beckerman Recreation Center, students have access to two turf fields (DellaCamera Stadium and Zolad Stadium) and the University of New Haven Tennis Courts.
