Leadership Development

LEAD (Leadership Education Achievement & Development Program)

All undergraduate students are offered the opportunity to take part in the leadership development programs offered by the Office of Student Activities.  One of the major components of our leadership development program is a leadership program called LEAD (Leadership Education Achievement and Development).  LEAD is a three tiered leadership education program focusing on Emerging Leaders, Evolving Leaders and Enriched Leaders.

The first tier in the series, Emerging Leaders, is open to first year students who are eager to develop their leadership skills. Emerging Leaders exposes first year students to the fundamentals of leadership such as defining leadership, leadership styles and theories, working as a team, and many more leadership development topics. This is a great learning opportunity for young leaders who have the potential to emerge as campus-wide leaders. Students have a fun learning experience as well as meeting other student leaders in the process.

The second tier in the series, Evolving Leaders, is comprised of Sophomores and Juniors. This tier allows students to continue to practice the leadership skills obtained from their Emerging Leadership workshops, as well as learn new skills to assist them in becoming well-rounded leaders. They attend workshops on running an effective meeting, delegating within a group, and organizational goal setting.

The third tier in the series is Enriched Leaders.  The students in their senior year are getting ready to face the “real world”.  These students take part in workshops geared towards preparing them to take the leadership skills they have learned at UNH into their workplaces and communities. They also learn how they can continue their work as leaders at UNH by being exposed to opportunities offered to them by the Alumni Office.
