The Fire LLC has been very active since boots landed at UNH. Members have toured the New Haven Regional Fire Academy, learned how to teach non-fire folks how to use fire extinguishers and had a number of meetings in the residence hall meeting room. The members have selected a slogan for the third floor of Bixler Fire LLC and they have begun meeting on two Sunday nights a month to train to become UNH Campus Emergency Response Team III. Guest speakers to date have included Chief Ron Kanterman from the Fallen Firefighters Foundation talking about the “Everyone Goes Home campaign”.
Future plans include a Red Cross course on Shelter Management and the spring trip to the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the National Fire Academy in Emmittsburg Md. All of this is in addition to classes in Fire Principles, Chemistry, History and Composition.
