Marine Biology Living Learning Community

The Marine Biology Living Learning Community (LLC) is a place for our freshmen Marine Biology majors to live with like-minded individuals who are passionate about marine studies. It offers a supportive atmosphere within which students are able to study with others who are also taking the challenging courses required of this major. LLCs benefit from having dedicated tutors available to work with the students in them if needed. In addition, the students in the Marine Biology LLC often form study groups to prepare for exams and to work on homework and laboratory reports.

The Marine Biology LLC also provides opportunities for students to socialize with each other, with students in other LLCs, faculty, and the community at large. Past functions have included a sail on New Haven Harbor, kayaking, nature hikes, a day trip to New York City, visits to the New England aquarium, and service learning activities such as volunteering at an oyster aquaculture facility. These events foster a community spirit amongst students and allow them time to interact with Marine Biology faculty outside of the classroom.
