Internships


CNN
CNN is a division of Turner Broadcasting System, which also heads TNT, TBS, The Cartoon Network, and the Atlanta Braves.
Turner Broadcasting System is proud to offer college juniors, seniors and graduate students an opportunity to learn from the best in entertainment, news and sports. We offer a number of internship opportunities in Atlanta and many of our other offices.

Internship Opportunity in Washington, DC
The Institute for Responsible Citizenship is a highly selective leadership program for black male college students. We seek to inspire promising young men to become exemplary citizens for life. The Washington Program is focused on developing young men into exceptional citizens who will sustain a lifetime commitment to public service. Many of the program's activities are focused on social and political life. While there are no academic major requirements for the program, the majority of participants are interested in careers in politics, law, and business.

Scholarships


New York Women in Communications Inc. Foundation
The New York Women in Communications Foundation, in conjunction with New York Women in Communications, awards scholarships annually based on academic excellence, need and involvement in the field of communications. Awards are for use in the 2008-2009 academic year. An appointed New York Women in Communications Scholarship Committee will select the winners. Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement, need, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community-service activities, honors and other awards or recognition, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, and unusual personal and/or family circumstances.

The Point Foundation
This foundation provides financial support, mentoring, and hope to meritorious students who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender expression or gender identity. The application process is open to all LGBT students nationwide regardless of level of education.

The Fund for Theological Education
FTE offers support to help gifted young people explore and respond to God's calling in their lives. Our mission is to advance excellence as we encourage caring, capable and courageous young adults from diverse backgrounds on their journey to become pastors and scholars-the next generation of leaders for the church. From fellowships for prospective and current seminary students to recruitment initiatives for congregations, FTE offers many different kinds of resources for many different needs through the programs described.

The Charles Shafae' Scholarship Fund
This fund awards two scholarships each year (one per long semester) to winners of the Papercheck Essay Contest. The contest is open to students of all majors. You must write a minimum 1,000 word essay on a specific topic; there is no maximum word count.
To qualify for entry, participants must meet the following criteria:
- be enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S.
- be enrolled at the undergraduate level (have taken or are taking an undergraduate course)
- be a legal resident of the U.S. or hold a valid student visa
- carry a status of "Good Standing"
- maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.2
- follow the guidelines below

Society of Hispanic and Professional Engineers (SHPE)
The Society of Hispanic and Professional Engineers encourages Hispanics to join engineering and promotes high standards of academic excellence.  This organization has existed at UNH in the past.  Students interested in re-instating SHPE, please contact faculty member Andrew Fish (AFish@newhaven.edu).

New England Science Symposium
The New England Science Symposium is an opportunity for biomedical and health-related researchers to present their work, exchange ideas, and expand their professional network. African-American, Hispanic, and American Indian/Alaska Native individuals are particularly encouraged to participate.
Researchers from all levels of higher education are welcome including college and community college students.
