- Hurricane Watch – Issued when there is a possibility that the path of a hurricane could threaten the region.
- Hurricane Warning – Issued when a hurricane is spotted or its path indicated on Doppler radar at the National Weather Service.
The University of New Haven has a comprehensive plan to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a hurricane. Important information will be relayed to the university community via email, text message, voice, web postings and the media. If the university should lose power a back-up website www.unhinfo.org will be operational and should be accessed for important emergency information and instructions.
