Dr. Ali Montazer Appointed Associate Dean of the Tagliatela College of Engineering
at
University of New Haven

West Haven, Conn., Nov. 27, 2007— Dr. Ali Montazer, professor of industrial engineering, has been appointed associate dean of the Tagliatela College of Engineering at the University of New Haven (UNH). Montazer has been a faculty member at UNH for more than 20 years, and has served as chairman of both the Department of Industrial Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Industrial Engineering. He was awarded the University’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 1988 and has taught in the areas of production and operations research and management, statistical methods, ergonomics, and simulation modeling He has taught in the University’s MBA, Executive MBA, and in the Master of Science in Engineering Management programs. More recently, Montazer co-founded the Center for Innovation Initiatives @UNH.

Montazer’s research and consulting interests include simulation modeling of production systems and business operations, statistical methods and Lean / Six Sigma. He has worked on simulation modeling and process improvement projects with numerous companies including Kendro Laboratory Products, RPS transportation, Remington Products Company L.L.C., the Bilco Company, Casco Products Corporation, Cheseborough Ponds USA / Unilever. He is currently working with student teams on simulation projects sponsored by Consolidated Industries Corp., Valley Tools and Manufacturing, and Covidien. He earned BSIE (Cum Laude), M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University at Buffalo - State University of New York, where he also taught as a visiting assistant professor. 

He is a senior member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, a member of the American Society for Engineering Education and is affiliated with several other professional organizations: National Society for Experiential Education, Production and Operations Management Society and the New Haven Manufacturers Association. Montazer is a certified experiential education faculty member through the National Society of Experiential Education Academy.
