Renowned Pianist Meehyun Ahn to Perform in Concert at UNH
What: The University of New Haven (UNH) Department of Visual and Performing Arts presents internationally acclaimed pianist Meehyun Ahn in concert. Ahn is an adjunct professor of music in the College of Arts and Sciences at UNH.
When: Sun. Dec. 9, 2007, at 4 p.m.
Where: Alumni Lounge, Bartels Hall, UNH campus.

Ahn has performed in notable including Rachmaninoff Hall in Moscow, the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, the Marmor Saal of the Mirabell Palace in Salzburg, and Morse Recital Hall and Sprague Hall in New Haven. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) Symphony, Moscow Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Symphony, Samara Philharmonic, Kharkov Philharmonic and Romania Philharmonic. Ahn has received numerous awards including the First Honorable Prize at The First Asian Youth Music Competition, the Gold Prize at the Seoul Youth Chamber Music Competition, The Best Music Award from the Seoul Arts School as the best performing student of the year and the 2nd Woon-Pa Music Awardgiven to the most promising young music student in Korea. She was chosen as the 2004 Kumho Artist by the Kumho Cultural Foundation and the KBS Artist of 2005 by the KBS Symphony Orchestra. Ahn has completed two CD recordings entitled “Scriabin Piano Concerto and Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2” with the Moscow Orchestra, conducted by Mikael Avetisyan, and “10 Solo PiecesProkofiev Sonata 3, Scriabin Sonata 10, Chopin Scherzo 2 and Others,” produced by the Korean Broadcasting System.
