Majora Carter will present "Home(town) Security," a lecture that looks at the vital economic, environmental, equality, and political issues at play in and around the "hometown." This presentation touches upon topics concerning urban (re)development, economics, security policy, food, energy, sustainability, equality, and the need to take a serious look at investment in urban areas.

Born and raised in the South Bronx, she is a preeminent environmental entrepreneur and is the recipient of a MacArthur Foundation "genius" award for urban revitalization, with major projects in some of the most distressed urban locations in the country. The Majora Carter Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness and effecting significant, positive change in American urban areas.

Carter will address the University community on Monday, 9/16 at 5 PM in the Beckerman Recreation Center.
