Nuclear Power Explored at Alvine Engineering Lecture Series at UNH

WHAT:
The Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program will present information on nuclear technology, the current status of the nuclear industry, and future challenges in a talk featuring Regis Matzie. There will also be a discussion on advanced light water reactors currently being deployed worldwide with a focus on the comparison of active and passive safety approaches. Policy issues related to nuclear regulation, government incentives, and waste disposal will be addressed. Matzie will also discuss what happened at Fukushima and its impact on the future of the nuclear industry.

Regis Matzie is a senior vice president and chief technology officer at Westinghouse Electric Company in Cranberry Township, Penn. He is responsible for all Westinghouse research and development undertakings as well as advanced nuclear plant development. He is also the author of more than 120 technical papers and reports.
