WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven is partnering with JumpOffCampus, a private company, to help students find off-campus housing.
The agreement will benefit UNH students and area landlords, as the system allows students to locate housing on a map, obtain rental information and even find roommates on a special website.
The service simplifies the apartment hunt for students and offers landlords a way to advertise to a specific market. It also helps students negotiate leases and sublets.
JumpOffCampus is a two-year-old company based in Providence, R.I., that has partnered with more than 25 universities around the country, including Tufts and Providence College, to help students find housing.
“This partnership will allow our students looking for off-campus housing to access the inventory of opportunities available in the greater New Haven area,” said Meghan F. Rydzik, UNH assistant director for housing and operations. “Since all of the landlords know that their properties will be advertised to students and students know that the landlords are student-friendly, the service is ideal.”
Kyle Nichols-Schmolze, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of JumpOffCampus, said, “We plan to deliver superior service to UNH students, West Haven area landlords and the university. Our service will help students have an easy transition to off-campus housing and is also ideal for graduate and foreign students.”
UNH students will be given special login information to a University of New Haven JumpOffCampus site, which can be viewed at unewhaven.jumpoffcampus.com.
