WHAT: Building dedication of Bergami Hall (currently known as New Hall) on Rt. 1 on the University of New Haven campus.
WHEN: Friday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at Bergami Hall on the patio facing Kayo Field (back side of the building).
WHO: The building is being named in honor of Samuel S. Bergami, Jr. and his wife, Lois. Sam Bergami came to UNH in 1983 as an Executive MBA student and today is president and chief executive officer of Alinabal Holdings Corp. in Milford. A member and former chair of the UNH Board of Governors, he and his wife have been generous UNH donors. UNH named Sam Bergami a Distinguished Alumnus in 2000, awarded him an honorary Doctor of Business degree in 2002 and presented him with the President's Award in 2012.
WHERE: The patio on the back side of the New Hall building that faces Kayo Field. Media should enter campus at the driveway between New Hall and Beckerman Center --- just south of the main entrance on Rt. 1. Continue to the bottom of the hill. The patio is on your right.
BACKGROUND: Built in 2004 by Acorn Group, and leased to the university, New Hall was purchased by UNH in June at a cost of $12.5 million. The Bergami family made a significant gift to help the university purchase the building.
The building houses offices and a coffee shop on the Rt. 1 side and has a 225-bed residence hall and cafeteria on the Kayo Field side. The 66,000 square-foot Bergami Hall was designed by KAGAN Architecture of New Haven.
