
What:
The University of New Haven (UNH) Tagliatela College of Engineering will host two public lectures titled, "Smart Implants," with Jim Ohneck, director of sales and marketing for Valtronic Technologies in Solon, Ohio. The lectures are part of the Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program and will highlight the benefits of medical implants to patients, doctors, health-insurance organizations and implant manufacturers.
Smart implants deliver biofeedback by monitoring, detecting and communicating a patient's condition back to a physician. Ohneck will illustrate current smart implant practices in the orthopedic, dental and neurological fields and will explain how their use is growing with a wide range of applications.
The event is free and open to the public.

Details:
Ohneck has worked in the medical device industry for 27 years, with experience in product management, international sales and executive marketing management. Since joining Valtronic Technologies, he has helped develop a multi-faceted marketing and sales program. Ohneck received an A.A.S. from the University of Hartford in 1980, a B.S. from the University of Phoenix in 1985, and completed the executive marketing management program at Columbia Business School in 1989. He has been involved in senior management positions of high-tech medical start-up companies since 1992.
