The University of New Haven (UNH) Tagliatela College of Engineering will host two public lectures titled, "Smart Implants," with Jim Ohneck, director of sales and marketing for Valtronic Technologies in Solon, Ohio. The lectures are part of the Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program and will highlight the benefits of medical implants to patients, doctors, health-insurance organizations and implant manufacturers.
Smart implants deliver biofeedback by monitoring, detecting and communicating a patient's condition back to a physician. Ohneck will illustrate current smart implant practices in the orthopedic, dental and neurological fields and will explain how their use is growing with a wide range of applications.
The event is free and open to the public.
Wednesday, September 29, from 12:15-1:30 p.m. and 6:00-7:15 p.m.
