Record-Journal, February 23, 2012:  The New Britain man accused of killing his mother in Southington has schizophrenia, according to a public defender. James Cassidy, chairman of the criminal Justice department, said insanity defenses represent only about one percent of all pleas and of those, less than a quarter succeed.
