East Haven Patch, July 26, 2011: Dr. Henry Lee gives Connecticut police a look at new forensic equipment.
Connecticut police officers got a glimpse at the future of forensic science today.
World Renowned forensic scientist Dr. Henry C. Lee, who runs the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science at the University of New Haven (UNH), addressed Connecticut police chiefs during a gathering July 26 at the university.
Lee spoke about the many advancements in forensic equipment, including 3D reconstruction imaging, online databases and handheld equipment that can be taken in the field. He says that the new technology helps solve crime faster by taking the work out of the lab and into the field.
Much of that new equipment is now stored at UNH, where it can be used by police from throughout the state. The Institute also teaches police how to use the new technology.
