West Haven, Conn., April 24, 2007 - University of New Haven President Steven H. Kaplan has announced the appointment of Thomas Macchi as vice president of facilities. Recognized as a leader in the field of facilities management, Macchi joins UNH with more than 19 years of experience. At UNH, Macchi will manage Sodexho facilities and catering contract services, capitol projects, and campus police.
Macchi began his career in facilities management at the College of William and Mary and went on to lead several campus facilities operations to success as a project manager for Marriott and then Sodexho campus services. He is known for his ability to successfully guide a campus through the transition to outsourced services, and for his talent to oversee multifaceted construction projects.
In his current position as associate vice president for facilities management and capital outlay at Arcadia University, Macchi has built a highly effective facilities operation, coordinated the completion of multi-million dollar capital projects, and overseen the campus master plan, and the campus landscape master plan.
A former police officer with the Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey police department, Macchi also served as a personal security consultant for former President Richard Nixon. In 1988, he was named a police lieutenant with the College of William and Mary police department, and then project manager with the college's facilities management operation. He joined Marriott in 1995 as a project supervisor.
