University of New Haven (UNH) community psychology alumna and owner of Healthy Endeavors, LLC, Wendy Battles-Plasse '93, will discuss the benefits of proper nutrition for those living with lupus-a chronic, autoimmune disease-at the Annual Author Symposium sponsored by The Connecticut Lupus Foundation. Battles-Plasse will explain the link between eating nutritious foods and the reduction of lupus symptoms.
The symposium will feature notable authors Bernie Siegel, M.D., author of several best-selling books including "365 Prescriptions for the Soul," "Peace, Love & Healing" and "Love, Medicine & Miracles," and Donna Jackson Nakazawa, author of "The Autoimmune Epidemic." The symposium will be emceed by Desiree Fontaine, feature reporter for WTNH News Channel 8.

Wendy Battles-Plasse earned her B.A in sociology and anthropology from Lake Forest College and her M.A. in community psychology from UNH. She started Healthy Endeavors, LLC, a health coaching and consulting firm in North Haven in 2006 to help individuals live healthier lifestyles. She works with corporations, non-profit organizations, women's groups and professional associations, helping them recognize the connection between enhanced employee health and improved business results.
