The University of New Haven (UNH) Legal Society will sponsor a lecture on the history and importance of jury duty with Jammy Davis from the Connecticut Jury Outreach Program. Davis will provide a brief history of jury duty dating back to the Salem witch trials and discuss the jury selection process, jury trials and the importance of participating in jury duty. A question and answer session will follow the presentation. This event is open to UNH students, faculty and staff.

The Connecticut Jury Outreach Program offers students critical information to ease apprehensions and answer questions they may have if and when they are summoned for jury duty. The program focuses on providing information that answers questions about eligibility, importance, individual role and other aspects of jury duty.
The UNH Legal Society promotes discussion of legal topics through numerous speakers, programs, field trips and meetings. Recent speakers have included police officers, judges and criminal defense lawyers. The society also sponsors the UNH Mock Trial Team which participates in the American College Mock Trial Association competition.
