The University of New Haven (UNH) Tagliatela College of Engineering will host a public lecture entitled: “Intellectual Property: What Is It and Why Should an Engineer Care?” with Rafael Rosado, J.D., associate general counsel at Pratt & Whitney. Rosado is featured as part of the Fall 2009 Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program. He will discuss intellectual property law, specifically trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. This event is free and open to the public.

Rafael Rosado, J.D., is responsible for Pratt & Whitney’s Next Generation Product Family Program. In his role, Rosado leads and manages all legal issues related to Pratt & Whitney’s next-generation commercial jet engines. His primary focus is managing the program’s intellectual-property portfolio to ensure Pratt & Whitney protects its technological lead and respects the intellectual-property rights of third parties. He has frequently lectured on intellectual property matters at universities, companies and trade organizations. He received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
