This is an exciting time for both the University of New Haven and the forensic science program. This new home for the Institute of Forensic Science will provide students with the most cutting edge of technologies - ensuring that the University's program will continue to be a national model. I have been proud to work with the University to access federal dollars to enhance the opportunities the program offers.
We could not be more fortunate than to have such a celebrated figure as Dr. Henry Lee call Connecticut home. He has, almost single-handedly, brought an excitement to the field of forensic science which has translated into an avid popularity for the program. I have no doubt that the new Henry C. Lee Institute will provide the newest generation of forensic scientists with the education and hands-on experience they need to make a real difference in our law enforcement community."
U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman citation September 25, 2009
Connecticut remains a leader in the field of forensic science and this institute will serve as a fundamental link between forensic scientists, the legal community, and academia. I want to thank my good friend Dr. Lee for his leadership in advancing this vital field and congratulate President Kaplan and the UNH community at large once again for your continued success.
U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd citation September 25, 2009
The new Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science is a source of great pride for our state. Because of its research, training, and education programs, Connecticut can lay claim to being a world leader in developing innovative ways to keep communities safe.
This prestigious institute deserves a building to match, and today's groundbreaking is a cause for great celebration. With these new resources, the University of New Haven will be able to continue to attract the finest teachers and students, not to mention worldwide acclaim from law enforcement personnel. I am particularly pleased that the new facility will provide opportunities for the public to learn more about the important work done at the Institute.
I congratulate the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science on today's groundbreaking, and look forward to many years of new discoveries.
