West Haven, Conn., May 14, 2009-University of New Haven (UNH) Professor and Guilford, Conn. resident, Dr. Gregory Broderick, was awarded the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE) Lifetime Service Award for his contributions to the Connecticut section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). This award is given to CSCE members who have actively participated on CSCE committees, technical groups or boards for a minimum of 12 years.
Broderick serves as chair of the Mechanical, Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at UNH and coordinates the University's undergraduate engineering program. Broderick received his B.S. and M.S. from Northeastern University and his Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin. His work has been published in journals including "Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Materials" and "Journal of Geotechnical Engineering." His patents include moisture-suction and permeability tests on unsaturated soils, permeability tests for compacted clay-liner material using leachate generated from solidified wastes, and moisture-suction tests on compacted soil specimens. He is currently a reviewer of journal articles for "Journal of Geotechnical Engineering."
