UNH Students Win State-Wide Public Service Announcement Contest
Students' PSA Reinforces Dangers of Underage Drinking
West Haven, Conn., May 8, 2009-University of New Haven (UNH) communication students took first place in the second annual Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of Connecticut Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contest. Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of Connecticut held the competition for a new 30-second PSA to reinforce the dangers of underage drinking through the creative use of sound and image. The UNH PSA was chosen from 35 submitted by students from four Connecticut universities. This year's theme was "Underage Drinking and Connecticut's House Party Law."
Judges included Connecticut Lieutenant Governor Michael Fedele, Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr. and Lieutenant J. Paul Vance of the Connecticut State Police. Team members received a cash award in the amount of $2,500, trophies and certificates of participation at the awards ceremony.
