UNH Students Win Award at National Theatre Festival

West Haven, CT, April 24, 2009-University of New Haven (UNH) students Jessica Emerson '09, of Claremont, N.H., and Emily Gorecki '09,  of Hamden, Conn., took third place in the national Barbizon Award for Excellence in Scenic Design at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival national competition held April 14-18, 2009 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Emerson and Gorecki were recognized for her work in "Two Rooms," a production of the UNH Theatre Program about an American college professor taken hostage by Arab terrorists. Their team was among eight finalists from across the country. In January 2009, the two won the regional Barbizon Scenic Design Award for their work on the same production.
