UNH Prof offers Public Lecture

What
The University of New Haven (UNH) College of Business will host a lecture entitled "Internet Addictive Behavior and the College Student: Implications for the Workplace" with Dr. Juline Mills, associate professor and program coordinator in the Department of Hospitality Management. The lecture is part of the College of Business Research Forum series. This event is free and open to the public.

According to Mills, the Internet has emerged as an essential media channel for personal communications, academic research, information exchange, and entertainment. But while the positive aspects are renowned, concerns continue to mount regarding problematic Internet usage behaviors. She notes it is estimated that approximately nine million Americans could be labeled as pathological computer users addicted to the Internet to the detriment of work, study, and social life. Her study defines the concept of Internet addiction, examines its reputed prevalence among college populations, as well as review current controversies surrounding the topic. The impact of such behavior is also examined as well as strategies for identifying and dealing with Internet addiction among both college students and in the workplace.
