The University of New Haven (UNH) Friends of the UNH Library will host a public lecture entitled: "The Profession of Interior Design: Working with an Interior Designer" with Christy Somerville and John Arabolos, registered interior designers in Connecticut who are currently serving as the president and vice-president of legislation for the Connecticut Coalition of Interior Designers. Somerville and Arabolos will present the knowledge and services that a professional interior designer brings to the consumer, and an understanding of how an interior designer and the consumer work together to create residential and commercial interiors that meet their interior design goals. The event is free and open to the public.

Details
Somerville is a registered interior designer in Connecticut and currently serves as the president of the Connecticut Coalition of Interior Designer (CCID). She is also an allied education member of the American Society of Interior Designers and a corporate member of the Interior Design Educators Council. Somerville has 30 years of experience as an interior design educator and practitioner with a specialty in corporate office design. She is an assistant professor of interior design and serves as the coordinator for the Interior Design Program within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences at UNH. Somerville received her B.S. and M.A. degree in environmental factors/interiors from California State University, Long Beach.
Arabolos is a registered interior designer in Connecticut and currently serves as the vice president of legislation for the Connecticut Coalition of Interior Designers. He is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers and has also served as the organization's president. Arabolos is a professional-in-residence at UNH's Interior Design Program and the owner of Arabolos Design in West Haven, an interior design firm providing residential and commercial interior design services since 1981. Arabolos received a B.F.A. from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford, where he received the Ruth Cheney Goodwin Award, and his M.F.A. at the Pratt Institute of Design where he received a Ford Foundation Grant for his art and design work.
