Christy Somerville Selected for Faculty Excellence Award

University of New Haven (UNH) Associate Professor of Visual and Performing Arts, Christy Somerville, of Orange, Conn., has been selected to receive the University of New Haven Excellence in Experiential Education Award. Somerville was one of eight faculty and staff members selected for the 2008 Faculty Excellence Awards by the Office of the Provost.. Each award includes a cash prize of $1,000 and a commemorative plaque.

The criteria for the Excellence in Experiential Education Award include outstanding experiential teaching techniques or instructional development and the championing of experiential education for the UNH academic community. As an Excellence in Experiential Education Award winner, Somerville will be named a Fellow of the Center for Faculty Development and invited to share her talent with faculty-at-large by giving at least one workshop in the next academic year. The workshop will focus on furthering excellence in experiential education at UNH.
