"Splendido!  The Top 10 Italians of All Time!"

SYNOPSIS:

Some of the names are well-known: DaVinci, Galileo, Michelangelo, Columbus. Some are lesser known: Mazzei, Fermi, Torricelli, Volta.

But every one of the Top 10 Italians played an enormous role in the advancement of mankind and the improvement of life on earth. Imagine life without the battery, or meteorology, or the scientific method. Imagine no America, and also imagine an America that had never declared for the first time “All men are created equal.”

These myriad scientific, political, historical, and cultural achievements by the Top 10 Italians changed the world.

In Splendido! The Top 10 Italians of All Time, Stephen Spignesi, English Department faculty member and author of almost 60 books, will talk about the Top 10 Italians, and also present a slideshow about them and their accomplishments. The talk will consist of a lecture, slideshow, and Q&A session.
