Escape from the "Bosstrap:" What to do when you Feel your Supervisor is Standing in your Way of a Fulfilling Career
Dr. Stuart Sidle will discuss the various types of stress inducing supervisor-subordinate dynamics that get in the way of a satisfying and productive work environment. And, he will provide guidance for employees on how they can better understand their relationship with their supervisor and options for improving these complex relationships.
Stuart, an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist, received his B.A. from The American University and his MA and Ph.D. from DePaul University. Currently, he directs the Industrial/Organizational Psychology programs at the University of New Haven where he teaches courses in Motivation, Organizational Development, Employee Testing and Leadership Assessment & Development. Before joining UNH, Stuart has held full time faculty appointments at DePaul University's College of Commerce and at Saint Xavier University's Department of Psychology. He has won awards for excellence in teaching at both universities.
In addition to presenting his ideas and research on workplace issues such as job stress, work satisfaction, employee surveys, change management and leadership development at a wide variety of companies and conferences, he has published in such journals as the Academy of Management Executive, Academy of Management Perspectives, Organizational Research Methods, the Journal of Applied Social Psychology and the Journal of Business and Psychology. Based on his experience as a consultant to dozens of organizational leaders and his research on leadership-subordinate relations, motivation and job stress, Stuart is putting together his first book, which is on the topic of What to do when you Feel your Supervisor is Standing in your Way of a Fulfilling Career.
