The Marvin K. Peterson Library offers a variety of sources for students of finance. This guide is a starting point that presents a selection of resources, both ours and useful Internet sources we list.

Use the Library Catalog to find circulating and reference materials, including books, audio-visual holdings, government documents, and periodical titles. (For periodical articles, see the Journals section.)
Our catalog uses the Library of Congress (LC) classification system and subject headings. LC assigns call numbers (letters and numbers) according to the book's primary subject.
Call numbers for books in economics and finance in the Reference and Circulation Stacks:

Choose the type of search you want by selecting from among the many options offered: keyword, subject, author, title, etc. Then place the cursor in the find this box and type in the words you want to search.

Reference books can be used only in the library. Please note that some books are also available online. Check the Linked Resources tab in the bibliographic record once you find it.

- Library of Congress Country Studies also provide overviews of social and economic conditions around the world. You can search for them in our library catalog. Check the date of publication, as these are not updated annually.

The Marvin K. Peterson Library has been a Federal Depository Library since 1971 and collects material from the Census, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Department of Labor, Treasury Department, Social Security Administration and others. All currently received documents, and many of the older ones, will be found through library catalog searches. Many resources are available online; click on Linked Resources to check for the online availability of a particular item. For catalog items with the [U.S. Gov't Docs] location that are not online, come to the Information Desk for staff assistance.
GPO Access (Government Printing Office) contains bibliographic citations to documents published by Federal Government agencies from 1976 to the present, with links to the online publications where available. Also see Selected Internet Resources for other online government sources, such as EDGAR.

Journals and Other Periodicals
Journals at the MKP Library on the home page is a listing of most of the periodical titles, current and historical, to which you have access through the library. Formats of journals include print, microform and electronic (online).
To find:
♦Single journals or articles
Type the title of the journal into the top search box. Results will show which databases contain the journal electronically and give you a list of available issues to search through.
Available UNH Library Holdings are also given to enable you to find and/or copy the article in the library. Current and older issues of most of our print periodicals, interfiled in a single alphabetical arrangement, are on the lower level.
Ask for current newspapers and microform holdings at the Circulation Desk.
♦Lists of journals by keyword or subject
Use the top search option, with the drop-down box set to Title contains all words and search with title keywords (e.g., finance, financ*, international financ*, etc. [*= truncation here]).
You can also select a subject category (lower drop-down search box) and select subjects like Business & Economics and the listed subcategories.

Provides articles and information from periodical publications with a trade and industry focus (including market trends) in many market sectors such as finance, construction, computers, transportation, insurance and more.
Business and Company Resource Center
A database of company profiles, brand information, market intelligence, rankings, financials, investment reports, histories and industry news.
Includes reports, articles, and economic data for the United States on management, economic and financial topics.
Directory of Corporate Affiliations
A business directory, this database of company information includes parent/subsidiary relations.
Emerald Fulltext is a collection of articles from important management journals.
National and international coverage. Find industry analyses, information on a company's location, summary financials, top competitors, top officers, and more.
Directory information with histories/profiles. National and international coverage. Includes histories of companies, major competitors, key officials and financials, and information from Disclosure.
Includes SEC data, also available online at the SEC EDGAR site, as well as in LexisNexis - Business. Mergent (formerly Moody's) analyzes corporations and institutions, providing history, properties, management and financial data (updated via news reports).

Directory listings of US companies. Includes parent and subsidiary relations between companies and lists small companies not included in the larger databases.
STAT-USA.
Includes SOTN (State of the Nation), NTDB (National Trade Data Bank) and GLOBUS. Contains domestic and international trade and market information, including country-specific information, industry-specific information and industry-country information, as well as economic indicators. The World Factbook, U.S. Global Trade Outlook, A Basic Guide to Exporting, Background Notes, Business America, and Country Commercial Guides are some of the publications that are available in full text.

USA Trade Online.
A database of domestic import and export information.

Value Line Investment Survey.
Provides information on stocks, including the prices, timeliness, safety ranks, estimated dividends, low and high, P/E stocks, and stock market averages. Ref. HG4501.V26 S4 [Permanent Reserve]: ask at the Circulation Desk. Earlier editions are located in the reference stacks. Current 13-week cycle is available online in the Library via password -- ask at the Information Desk.
Items are image-based and fully-searchable and provide comprehensive coverage from the inception of each publication. HeinOnline has four major library collections: Law Journal Library, Federal Register Library, Treaties and Agreements Library, and the U.S. Supreme Court Library.
An index of more than 1,400 titles including law reviews, legal newspapers, bar association journals and international legal journals. LegalTrac also contains law-related articles from over 1,000 additional business and general interest titles.

Gale Virtual Reference Library E-Books
Access to several multi-volume reference resources, including the following Gale encyclopedias: Small Business; U.S. Economic History.
InfoTrac OneFile and Academic OneFile
Two multidisciplinary databases that provide access to citations, abstracts and lots of full text articles from journals and newspapers. IOF includes popular publications, while AOF focuses more on academic titles.
FirstSearch.Provides access to many databases such as Dissertations from North America and Europe, EconLit, and more. Disclosure is also available directly via the database. Available in the library only. Ask at the Information Desk for password, if needed.
IRIS (Illinois Researcher Information Service)
A database of funding, grant and scholarship opportunities in all fields. Includes useful links to other sites, and provides online guides to grant writing. You can sign up for an e-mail alert service.
