Internet Resources
The library catalog allows you to find items that are in the library, including books, audiovisual materials, government documents and periodical holdings. Our library uses the Library of Congress classification schedule. The library's website offers help in searching, including a guide called Using the UNH Library Catalog (OPAC). We also offer an interactive Online Library Catalog Tutorial that you will find helpful.
Government documents can be any type of information published by a government agency. U.S. government documents may be books, reports, congressional hearing transcripts, maps, journals, pamphlets, videos and more. Topics are diverse. The Marvin K. Peterson library has been a depository library since 1971, receiving approximately one third of all of the documents issued by U.S. government agencies. Interlibrary Loan is a service offered to the UNH community. If you need a book, article, or other material that the Peterson Library doesn't have, you can request that item through Interlibrary Loan. This simply means that we will find out what library has the item that you are looking for, and borrow it for you from that library. When the item arrives at UNH, you will be notified. Request forms are available in the library at the Reference Desk, and also online. For more information, including policy information regarding interlibrary loan click here.
