Use the Library Catalog to find circulating and reference materials, including books, audio-visual holdings, government documents, and periodical titles. (For periodical articles, see the Journals section.)
Our catalog uses the Library of Congress (LC) classification system and subject headings. LC assigns call numbers (letters and numerals) according to the book's primary subject.
The primary call number area for international commerce is HF3000-HF5000.
Choose the type of search you want by selecting from among the many options offered: keyword, subject, author, title, etc. Then place the cursor in the find this box and type in the words you want to search.
Look for search tips at the bottom of the catalog search page. For more detailed search strategies, consult our guide on Using the UNH Library Catalog.
UNH students, faculty and staff can use our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service for materials we do not own. ILL request forms for books and articles are available at the library Information Desk, and online from the library's website. A separate ILL request form is needed for each item requested. Bibliographic citations should be as accurate and complete as possible. Incorrect or incomplete information, e.g. abbreviations, lack of a publication date, etc., will slow down receipt of material. It is the Peterson Library's policy not to order course textbooks. Read more about Interlibrary Loan.

Those dealing with business include periodicals, federal agency reports, Congressional hearings, and, of course, the federal censuses and intervening updates on population, housing, and economic activity.
Many documents are in physical formats (paper, microfiche, CD-ROM) and will be found in library catalog searches. Many are also available online. In the library catalog, be sure to click on Linked Resources to check for online availability. For assistance with government documents [GovDocs] items that are not online, come to the Information Desk.
Access government issuing agencies through the portals listed below or go directly to their websites. For Internet resources on more specific topics from both governmental and non-governmental institutions, see the Selected Internet Resources section.
For more information on government documents, consult the Government Documents library guide.
