Dr. Mills is currently Professor and Department Chair for the Hospitality program at the University of New Haven. She has trained more than 1500 individuals over the past 19 years, nationally and internationally; spearheaded course developments in e-business and information technology for hospitality and tourism; supervised or assisted graduate-level students in the completion of logical and clearly developed theses and dissertations at the University of Delaware and Purdue University.

Dr. Mills is considered a dedicated instructor devoted to the advancement of students via experiential learning opportunities. Highlights of Dr. Mills teaching philosophy in providing student-focused experiences include: Viewing the classroom as an arena for exploration and mutual participation, which requires knowledge of individual students, different cultural ways of knowing, and where learning becomes fun and entertaining; Drawing on years of experience in the hospitality management industry during teaching; Willingness to help students understand the industry in which they have chosen a career path, and the detail and rigor that is needed for success in their chosen profession; and Believing in an open door policy in which students can walk in and seek professional advice at anytime.

Dr. Mills has received the University of New Haven Faculty Experiential Education Award and the Purdue University, Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management Bruce I. Lazarus Teacher of the Year Award.

Dr. Mills conducts research primarily in E-consumer Behavior, Information Technology, Web Design and Development, Online Liability Issues, and Electronic Surveying Methodologies. She has received three Emerald Management Review Citation of Excellence Awards, the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Education (CHRIE) best paper award, the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education (JHTE) article of the year award, and the International Federation of Information Technology, Tourism and Travel (IFITT) best paper award. In addition to serving as an editorial board member and manuscript reviewer for various journals Dr. Mills has served as co-editor for the Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing special issue on E-consumer Behavior published simultaneously as Handbook of Consumer Behavior, Tourism, and the Internet and for the Journal of Foodservice Business Research special issue on information technology.

She received her Ph.D. from Purdue University in Hospitality and Tourism Management specializing in E-Business, her Masters degrees from the University of North Texas in Computer Education and Cognitive Systems and in Hospitality Management, and her undergraduate degree in Hotel Management from the University of the West Indies.
