About Jonathan

Jonathan Yukich has taught at the University of New Haven for nine years. In this time, he has directed productions of The Wolves, Cabaret, A Chorus Line, The Nether, Our Town, Psycho Beach Party, The Rocky Horror Show, The Maids, The Winter’s Tale, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), and The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later. He also advises and coordinates the program's biennial Student New Works Festival.

As a playwright, Jonathan’s plays receive over a hundred productions each year. They have been produced across the U.S. and Canada, as well as in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, China, and throughout Europe. His work is published with Broadway Play Publishing, Playscripts Inc., Smith & Kraus, Applause Theatre & Cinema Books, Eldridge Publishing, Heuer Publishing, Pioneer Drama Service, and Meriwether Press.

In 2020, two full-length plays of his were published: Killing the Bear with Broadway Play Publishing, and The Poe Show with Eldridge Publishing. Currently, Jonathan is working on an introductory theatre textbook with Cognella Publishing, based on his teachings. The textbook is titled Theatre Now: Reading It, Seeing It, Doing It. The first edition is scheduled for an early 2023 release.

Jonathan has regularly taught playwriting courses and workshops at several universities throughout the country, including Mount Holyoke College, New York University, Dickinson College, Quinnipiac University, and the University of Montana.
