Mental Health
National Institute of Mental Health
A federal mental health program through the National Institute of Health, this site lists job and internship opportunities in many organizations.
Kennedy Krieger Institute
Baltimore's specialists in developmental disabilities, KKI has hosted many Goucher students in the past. Behavioral Psychology offers many internship options but students can intern for other departments in KKI as well. Students should look at least 3 months in advance to apply for field placement or practicum in Behavioral Psychology. Student volunteers cannot be called “interns” as those are for doctoral students. For questions of more information contact Dr. Jennifer Crokett at corckettlj@kennedykrieger.org.
Sheppard Pratt Hospital
The Sheppard Pratt Health System is a very active, private setting for behavioral health treatment located in Towson. It is recommended to allow 3-4 months for the application process, which includes an interview, background check, orientation and TB test. Students are placed based on their interests, availability and fit with the unit. Only two interns work in a unit at one time. Reliability is a must, and experience with children is a plus for students looking to work in pediatric programs. For questions of more information contact Shannon Walsh at 410-938-4850.
