Courses that Build Knowledge and Skills

Students complete 30 credits, 15 credits of required and 15 credits of electives. Course work builds the essential strong analytic capabilities that mechanical engineers need while including relevant technical skills most employers and PhD students desire. Most courses have project components or design oriented content so students can apply their analytic & technical skills to real world problems. International applicants are urged to submit scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) to be considered for admission. GRE scores are required for International applicants who wish to be considered for scholarships. The GRE is optional for graduates of regionally accredited United States colleges and universities.

Experience the Program with Hands-On Application

Mechanical engineering students can choose the topic for their research projects. A group of students recently opted for the highly relevant and newsworthy topic of renewable, alternative energy sources for their project. Their work explored solar heating of domestic hot water systems, wind turbine energy, and heat pipe theory as it relates to evacuated solar collectors.

Research & Teaching Assitantships

Well qualified graduate students can apply for research positions with mechanical engineering faculty. Current areas of research include: renewable energy systems, computational fluid dynamics, robotics, elasticity and dynamic systems. Teaching assistantships are also available to assist with undergraduate labs on mechanics, instrumentation and thermo fluids. Interested students can apply here.
