The machine shop occupies approximately 1000 square feet of space with an additional 1000 square feet of student work space in two other locations.
Thanks to University support and numerous generous donations from private companies, precision machining can be accomplished in-house on a limited scale. Milling (CNC & manual), turning, boring, drilling, welding, pressing, shear and cutting of various materials may be performed. A wide array of hand tools makes fabrication, assembly of components and student-built projects possible. Additional capabilities include various types of welding, media blasting and woodworking.
The machine shop supports primarily mechanical and civil engineering laboratories, student design projects and faculty research.
