Experiential Education

Student Spotlight: Oscar Zabala (’17) spent his summer exploring the redox behavior of Barium Cerate Nanoparticles at the University of Kentucky as part of the National Science Foundation’s REU program.

As part of the University of New Haven’s commitment to Experiential Education, the Chemical Engineering Department requires students to complete either: study abroad, an internship in the Chemical Engineering industry, or faculty-mentored research.

Students will work with their faculty advisor to identify the appropriate Experiential Education experience for their interests and career goals. Many of our students study abroad at the UNH campus in Prato, Italy. Many students also participate in the SURF summer research program or complete a summer internship in industry.
