All on-campus residents (except those in Soundview Hall) are required to purchase a meal plan. Each plan has two parts: Board meals are Breakfast & Dinner, Mon-Fri, and Brunch and Dinner on weekends for a total of 14 board meals per week. These are "all you care to eat" meals. At Lunch, all students use the Dining Dollar portion of the plan. Lunch service is A-La-Carte, students pay item by item for whatever they wish to have.

Dining Dollar may also be used at Take 3, Jazzman's Cafe & Bakery, The UNH C-Store, The Library Cafe, Pandini's, Sky Ranch Grill, Simply To Go, Sandella's, and Nrgize Lifestyle Cafe. Freshmen and Sophomore residents are required to purchase either Meal Plan A B, or E each semester. Junior and Senior residents may choose any of the five plans.

In place of a board dinner meal at the Marketplace, a student may choose to have a dinner at Pandini's, Sky Ranch Grill, or Sandella's. The student may choose one of several "combo meals" available, or may choose any items on the menu up to a total value for $5.20. This meal then counts as one of the board meals for the week. There are specific "combo meals" at each of the 3 locations that will allow a student to eat without going into their dining dollars. Equivalency is valid only during regular board meal periods.
