Ticket Distribution for Spring Commencement

Tickets are Required for Entrance to Oakdale Theatre


  • Students will receive the number of tickets requested on the Commencement Participation Form (up to a MAXIMUM of 4 tickets).
  • Tickets will be available for pick-up, along with academic regalia (cap and gown) at Charge Out on Wednesday, April 16 from 1-6 p.m. in the Beckerman Recreation Center. 
    • Students must present student ID
    • Students will not be able to pick-up items for friends
  • Students participating in the Commencement ceremony will not need a ticket for entrance to Oakdale Theatre.
  • All guests, including children over the age of 2, will require a ticket for entrance to Oakdale Theatre.

Students will have the opportunity to be placed on a waiting list for ONE ADDITIONAL GUEST TICKET when completing the Commencement Participation Form. This is not a guarantee that additional tickets will become available. A final decision will be made in early May regarding the availability of additional tickets, based on the number of student participants and the capacity rules set forth by Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre and the Wallingford Fire Marshal.


Please Note:
Selling or purchasing commencement tickets is prohibited by the University of New Haven. All allegations of ticket selling and purchasing will be fully investigated and violators will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including the offender being excluded from participating in the Commencement ceremony.


  • Doors to Oakdale Theatre will open at 8:30 a.m. for the morning ceremony and at 1:30 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony
  • Guest tickets are for reserved seats
  • Programs will be distributed by ushers
  • The procession will begin at 9:45 a.m. for the morning ceremony and 2:45 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony - Guests are asked to be in their seats at this time as the doors to the Theatre will be closed during the procession and will not reopen until all students are in their seats
  • The morning ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and the afternoon ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. Both ceremonies will last approximately 2 hours
  • Students and guests are asked to show respect and remain in their seats until the conclusion of the Commencement ceremony
  • Individuals who engage in inappropriate or disruptive behavior may be removed from the area
  • Students and guests are asked to silence all electronic devices
  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited
