By taking courses that cover the five domains of healthcare management you will have a strong foundation to equip you to work in today’s healthcare workforce. With four focus areas you also can have the highly specialized knowledge that is desired by modern healthcare organizations.
The MSHA program at the University of New Haven is an Associate Graduate Member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) and the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
The mission of the Master of Science in Health Administration (MSHA) program is to provide competency-based, graduate-level education in healthcare management that prepares students for early- to mid-level management positions in the global healthcare workforce.
The program endeavors to be nationally ranked among healthcare administration programs, be the program of choice for the Southern New England healthcare community, and be recognized by our peers, our alumni, and prospective employers.
The core values of the MSHA Program are:

High Quality Training
Our program is currently pursuing accreditation by CAHME, the world’s gold standard in healthcare management education. Only an elite set of institutions are awarded this accreditation which we hope to earn within two years. CAHME accredited programs are required to certify that all students in the program are taught the 5 core domains of healthcare management: healthcare industry knowledge, general business knowledge and skills, communication and relationship management, leadership, and professionalism.
In 2015, our entire curriculum was revised to ensure that students enrolled in the MSHA are learning the most cutting edge aspects of healthcare management. As a result of these changes, we have added courses in health communication, population health management, health informatics, healthcare leadership, project management and more.
All students in the MSHA program must complete their experiential learning requirement by completing the Capstone course or an Internship. The Capstone course offers students to work in teams with local area hospitals to solve real-time, real-world business challenges. The Internship course helps you prepare, if you aren't already working in the healthcare field, for work in the healthcare industry. Our students have done internships with the following organizations and many more.
